Coming to the surface are my most recent works. I have been painting swimmers and underwater scenarios for the past few years and now my story has brought the players to land and to the surface. I have always been a 'surface' artist, using lots of detail and technique and this series weaves together the subject and medium in a guileless way. It has been an exciting painterly drive. Working with multiplicities in meaning and depiction, the dimensions, veils and overlays seems to work with the man in the shower, my everyman. The paintings are made in a variety of mediums; acrylic on canvas, wood stains on panels, giclees, plexiglas, resins, lacquer, sandpaper... and are multilayered in every respect.
