L'artiste Renée duRocher n'est pas le seul être humain à s'interroger sur ces aspects qui nous préoccupent jusqu'au trépas. Elle n'est pas la seule, mais c'est une des artistes qui le fait avec le plus de fidélité, le plus de prestance même: « Le temps m'a toujours interpellée, et avec le temps, justement, avec le recul, je constate que, dans mon parcours pictural, ma manière de temps. Maintenant, ce qui m'intéresse, c'est la durée, la notion de transmission, celle du savoir, certes, mais aussi celle des objets, des cultures...Et ma dernière série, où les soldats Xians sont si présents, illustre bien cette préoccupation.» »

"What remain of our beings after our earthly adventure comes to an end? Is it possible that we are merely a spark amidst the fire of creation? These are good questions,and ones which will remain unanswered for quite some time. Perhaps there is no answer.
Renée duRocher is not the only human being to have reflected on these ideas, one which will undoubtedly consume us until our demise. She is not the only one, but she is an artist who does with incredible devotion and bearing: "The concept of time has always been of great interest to me, and appropriately, with time I have realized that my pictorial journey or the way in which I treat my subject has changed. When I was younger and attending university, I painted what I perceived as a lack of time. Now what interests me is duration, the notion of transmission, the generational transfer of knowledge through objects and cultures...And my last series, the one where the soldiers of Xian are present, illustrate this concern very well."
